The voice came crackling over the intercom, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. I'm sorry to inform you that we've lost function in one of our four engines on our 747. We aren't in any danger, but we will be arriving about a half hour later than planned. We apologize for the inconvenience." An hour later, the captain spoke again, saying, "Folks, I'm sorry to tell you this, but we've experienced another malfunction in one of our engines. As with the last time, we aren't at any additional flight risks, but we will be one more hour behind schedule." Some 30 minutes later, the captain informs the cabin, "Strangely enough and much to all of our amazement and bewilderment, we have just lost power from a third engine. We're really sorry for the inconvenience, but we expect to be pulling into our gate no earlier than three hours behind schedule." One electrical engineer on board turns to the man next to him and groans, "Man, if we lose that fourth engine, we're gonna be stuck up here forever!"So I think my brother told me this one a long time ago. In any case, please be patient with this site, it is still undergoing changes. Thoughts, suggestions, and all other comments now welcome.
